Michelle described the many reasons she sees the center as a romantic spot

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama are offering some dating advice.

"Barack and I went to a museum on our first date," Michelle wrote on Instagram on Monday, June 29. "So take it from us: the Obama Presidential Center campus has just the right vibe for you and your boo 💕."

The caption accompanied a video featuring the former first couple, with the Obama Foundation also tagged.

Opened to the public on Juneteenth, the Obama Presidential Center is a 19.3-acre campus on Chicago's South Side that includes amenities such as public parks, event spaces, a city library and a museum.

In the video, the former first lady said that the presidential center would have been the perfect date spot for her and Barack.

After the former president laughed, Michelle said, "This would've been like 'Oh, this dude is cool.' "

She described the presidential center as a "sexy environment."

"This is a date vibe," she said as her husband smiled in agreement.

According to Michelle, the textile installation by Nick Cave and Marie Watt, as well as the artwork by Mark Bradford, only add to its appeal.

Looking at her husband, Michelle said, "And there are those comfy sofas after you've had a date, and then you put your arm around your date, and then we talk about life, and it gives you a chance to see if your date knows anything about the world."

Michelle advised that a couple could then go get a drink at Tafari's Kitchen, which honors the legacy of former White House Chef Tafari Campbell.

She also said that "there's nothing more romantic" than sitting on the presidential center's grass with a blanket.

In an intimate interview for PEOPLE's new cover story, Michelle said the two "are each other's counterbalance."

"The truth is, I probably would have been someone who stayed more put," she said. "I think I would have had a beautiful life here, but it would have been smaller."

"But because of who my husband is, he offered all of us — our girls, my mom, my family — a broader sense of what's possible in life," she continued. "He made me think more broadly about what I could do with this Harvard law degree besides be a lawyer. He gave me the courage. He was my ballast. He was like, 'I got you.' And however hard it's been, the ups and downs, he's got me."
