Welcome back, Below Deck Down Under fans! Last week, Ellie and Ben got off to a great start, minus their timing. Late meals aren’t a good look, as evidenced by the guest’s rather blunt feedback. Now, Ben’s in his head, while the rest of the crew is fully letting loose. Here’s what happened on BDDU Season 4 Episode 5.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 4 Episode 5?

Nothing’s going right, timing-wise, in the galley. So now, Ben’s feeling the pressure. Meanwhile, multiple crushes are forming across the yacht, one of which makes Alesia see green. So, she picks up her phone and makes a power play move, which ends Episode 5 on a rather scandalous note.

Captain Jason saves the day

Daisy is coming unglued. The guest’s lunch is late, and Annette, the co-primary, is overheating. Not helping, Eddy’s taking his sweet time fetching her swimsuit. Realizing they’re “skating on thin ice,” Captain Jason enters the galley, lending Ben and Ellie a hand.

Captain Jason delivers the food to the beach, right after Eddy arrives with the swimsuit. For now, all is well.

With their guests’ needs finally met, Daisy and João make predictions for their first night out. Eddy will try to flirt with Alesia, João predicts, even though she has a boyfriend. The camera returns to the boat, showing Eddy cracking Alesia’s back (literally, not the Gen Z definition).

João reminds Daisy that Mike tried to kiss her. Daisy laughs, but she does “not screw the crew.” João doesn’t “believe that,” though. He’s right, Daisy admits, while the camera shows her past interactions with that one bun-loving guy.

In his interview, João admits that Daisy’s different. He likes working with her. In hers, Daisy says the same thing about João. Interesting …

Tensions mount in the galley

It’s the primary guest’s birthday. Ellie used to work in her cousin’s dessert shop, so she’ll help with Christian’s cake. But she can’t eat it. She likes her abs.

To apologize for his failures, Ben orders fresh fish. He’s going to present a 17-pound salt-encrusted snapper that night, cracking it right in front of the guests. As he tells Daisy his plan, which includes promises to crank things out quickly, Daisy smiles, but she’s secretly “nervous.”

Daisy sends Mike outside to help the deck team. As Mike works, his radio falls into the sea. He heads back inside and starts cleaning the bar, and then he heads to his cabin to trim his nose hairs. The problem with Mike is that, if you give him a gray area, he will take advantage of it,” João clocks.

Tonight’s birthday dinner is Denim and Diamonds themed. Jenna’s dressed the part, which Ben appreciates. But Ellie needs Jenna to fetch her some plates. “Okay, chef,” Jenna dryly answers.

Ellie thinks Jenna’s “trying to establish herself above me.” Ugh. Here we go again with a hierarchy storyline.

The guests sit for dinner, but Daisy’s radio is staticky. Ben can’t understand her. She heads downstairs, where she sees Ben’s moving at a “snail’s pace.” She tries speeding him up, but the first dish still comes out 30 minutes late.

The static and lateness continue, and now, Ben and Daisy are at each other’s throats. Captain Jason’s frustrated, too. He’s having dinner with the guests and finds “the wait between dishes” appalling. Thankfully, the guests still enjoyed everything, including the cake, which Ellie did a solid job decorating.

Crushing comment cards

In the morning, Eddy greets Alesia with a hug. Outside, Daisy greets their guests with breakfast. They have comment cards waiting for them in their cabins, Daisy notes.

“Hello, love,” Ben says to Jenna, who’s standing beside him on the pier. But then, Ellie arrives and squishes herself between them. Jenna’s silent glare speaks volumes.

The guests depart. Christian has kind words for the crew, but as they walk away, Annette disagrees with her husband. The camera focuses in on the comment card box, complete with ominous music.

Sure enough, their cards called everyone out, and they only left a $20k tip. Daisy’s “not surprised.” Ben’s “lack of urgency is literally killing” her. Even still, Captain Jason gives Mike the disco ball helmet, since he dumbly dropped his radio into the drink.

The crew turns over the yacht, minus Ben. He’s reading over every comment card, slowly sinking into himself.

Crushing crew members and a jealous text on Below Deck Down Under

Ben doesn’t want to hang. Instead, he “chills out” in a guest’s cabin.

Everyone else heads off. Eddy buys Alesia a drink. Across the room, Ellie wants to “merge” her “genetics with João.” At the table, Jenna puts her arm around Eddy, making Alesia sigh.

Fully breaking every piece of ice on every continent, Ellie asks the ladies who amongst them squirts. Mike appreciates her energy. They briefly “peck.”

Alesia, however, does not appreciate the pictures Mike and Jenna are taking. She joins them as their third wheel. Later, in the hot tub, the crew plays a round of Truth or Dare. As a result, João loses his swimsuit and kisses Daisy, while Eddy kisses Jenna.

Eddy and Jenna continue kissing in his cabin, which Alesia sees. Later, from her bed, Alesia sends Eddy a text, admitting that he’s stuck in her head and needs to get out. Eddy replies, “Believe me when I say, I haven’t been able to stop looking at you.” But when Alesia reminds him about Jenna, Eddy writes, “I would drop her in a second to be an alien with you.”

Alesia rolls over and tells Jenna goodnight. Her job here is done.
