Bryan Cranston can't help but rave about his daughter Taylor Dearden's acting chops
Taylor, who is a breakout star on The Pitt, has mastered some acting skills "that it took me years to be able to learn," Cranston tells PEOPLE
He shares Taylor with his wife of nearly 37 years, Robin Dearden
Taylor Dearden is already surpassing her dad's acting skills, as far as he's concerned.
The star of The Pitt, and the only daughter of Bryan Cranston and his wife, Robin Dearden, has more than impressed Cranston, 70, with her career so far. "There [are] some subtleties that she is able to do that it took me years to be able to learn," Cranston tells PEOPLE of Taylor, 33. "And she learned it in her mid-20s, and I thought, wow."
"I truly think she is further along in her ability than I ever was at her age," he says at Project Angel Food's Lead with Love: Going The Distance fundraiser in L.A. on June 27. "I was still hustling and doing terrible 1980s TV shows when I was in my 30s."
On The Pitt, where she plays fan-favorite character Dr. Melissa King, Cranston says Taylor is more than paying her dues. "Oh, she's doing it. This show is hard. You have to rip off those six and seven-syllable medical terms like that, and it's tough."

It's a feeling that the actor relates to. "Great shows are always tough. They really are. They're always something," he continues.
"My personal experience — Breaking Bad was never easy to shoot. It just was never easy. And Malcolm [in the Middle] was hard. Up to the wire, we're trying to get as much in as you can, and that's just the nature of the beast."

Cranston has previously said that he's opted not to give his daughter advice as her career kicks into high gear.
"I think she picks it up because I'm her dad. She picks up advice, hopefully, by the way I behave in this business and navigate my way through," he told the . "But I don't ever say, 'Now, young lady, here's some advice I wanna give you.' Kids don't wanna hear that."
"She's a very hard-working person. She grew up in it, so it's in her bones," Cranston said. "She's in it for the right reasons and she loves it."

Seeing Taylor succeed on the hit HBO series is a true gift for the actor and his longtime wife. "Her mom and I are just over the moon with her work on it," he told the outlet.
"There is nothing that's more gratifying than when your kid receives praise. Nothing," he said. "No one can say anything to me that's better than that."
