Carey Hart called Pink an "all around amazing human being" in an Instagram post months before news of their split

"Very proud of the woman you have grown into over the last 24 years I have [known] you," the former pro-motorcross racer wrote in a September 2025 Instagram post

On Thursday, Feb. 26, PEOPLE confirmed the news that Pink and Hart, who married in 2006 and share two children, have separated

Carey Hart called Pink an "all around amazing human being" in an Instagram post shared five months before PEOPLE confirmed the couple's separation.

In September 2025, the former pro-motorcross racer shared a sweet birthday tribute to the 46-year-old musician (whose real name is Alecia Moore) on Instagram.

"Happy b day mama!" Hart, 50, captioned the post at the time. "Very proud of the woman you have grown into over the last 24 years I have know you."

He added, "Amazing mother, performer, wife, friend, business woman, philanthropist, role model, all around amazing human being. You are like a fine wine. 🍷 @pink."

Alongside the caption, Hart shared an image of the "Trustfall" artist — who is currently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — in a light pink fur hat smiling next to a photo of Billy Joel and another photo of Pink in the same hat with the couple's two children, Willow Sage, 14, and Jameson Moon, 9.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Pink and Hart separated after 20 years of marriage.

At the time, a rep for Pink had no comment, and a rep for Hart did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The duo initially met at the 2001 Summer X Games in Philadelphia and dated on and off before Hart proposed in 2005. In January 2006, they married in Costa Rica.

Pink and Hart announced that they had separated for the first time two years later.

The pair remained amicable as Hart even appeared in her music video for hit single “So What," which was inspired by their divorce. They revealed in the spring of 2009 that they had reconciled and called off their divorce.

They welcomed daughter Willow Sage in 2011 and son Jameson Moon in 2016.

In a 2021 PEOPLE cover story, Pink spoke about the ups and downs they had weathered throughout their relationship, noting that they did individual therapy as well as couples counseling.

“Long-term relationships are not easy. It is much easier to stay in the solid days and jump from relationship to relationship, because then you don't have to fix the problems that keep recurring. You have to end up fixing yourself; you can't fix the other person. So it can be challenging, and there's good days and there's bad days,” she said at the time.

She continued, “I think it’s an impossible expectation for you to think that you’re going to evolve at exactly the same pace as another person in exactly the same direction. So it takes work to redefine what's important. I don't want to break up my family. That's been my main goal, since I had a broken family. Sometimes you have to let it go. You can't die on every mountain.”
