In what appeared to be a freak accident, a BMW sedan struck a motorcyclist at a busy-looking junction. However, the rider was incredibly fortunate to survive the collision, even after being run over by the car.
His survival was made possible in large part by dozens of people nearby who immediately rushed to his aid. Working together, they managed to lift the BMW off the trapped motorcyclist and pull him to safety, turning a terrifying accident into a remarkable display of humanity.
A video of the incident that has gone viral on social media shows just how quickly ordinary bystanders can make a difference when someone is involved in a serious road accident. Their swift response may have been crucial in getting the rider out safely.
The incident also highlights the dangers motorists and motorcyclists face on the road, even at busy junctions where vehicles are stopped. In the footage, the BMW suddenly moves toward the motorcyclist and strikes him, making the collision appear almost deliberate, although the circumstances behind the crash remain unclear.
BMW Runs Over Motorcyclist at Junction
A video posted by CGTN Europe on Instagram shows a motorcyclist stopped at a junction in China's Guizhou Province on August 4, with traffic passing across the road ahead of him. The scene suggests that the rider was waiting at a traffic signal when a white car pulled up and stopped beside him.
A BMW then approached the rider from behind at a slow speed. However, the car did not stop. Instead, the car's rear suspension compressed as the driver suddenly accelerated, sending the BMW into the motorcyclist.
The impact caused the rider to fall partially onto the sedan's hood before sliding off the front and landing directly in the vehicle's path. The BMW then ran over him, making the incident appear potentially fatal. However, the motorcyclist miraculously survived the collision.
An officer and several bystanders soon arrived at the scene and, after realizing that the rider was still alive, called for more people to assist with the rescue. People could be seen rushing toward the scene from different directions to help free the trapped motorcyclist.
The group then worked together to lift the BMW from one side, tilting the vehicle onto its two left-side wheels, while several others pulled the rider out from underneath it. According to the post, the motorcyclist was rescued in less than two minutes.
Information displayed in the video stated that the motorcyclist was in stable condition after the incident. As for the BMW driver, while the post does not mention if he was arrested, one user in the comments section claimed that not only did the driver have to go to jail, but he also had to pay compensation.
