Edie Falco is reflecting on saying goodbye to some of her Sopranos costars during an event at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City
"I can't even begin to tell you, first and foremost, about how many of those people are gone," she said

Edie Falco is reflecting on saying goodbye to some of her costars.
Falco, 62, reflected on her time in The Sopranos during an event at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City on Friday, Feb. 27. The actress spoke on a panel, moderated by Ari Aster, with show creator David Chase and actor Dominic Chianese that followed a screening of the season 3 episode āA Second Opinion.ā
When asked about playing Carmela, the wife to James Gandolfiniās mafia crime boss Tony Soprano, she said, āI still don't have an intellectual perspective on what the heck went on for those 10 years of my life. It is so evocative to watch.ā

Falco continued, āI can't even begin to tell you, first and foremost, about how many of those people are gone. It still knocks me off my feet.ā
Several stars from the HBO hit that ran for six seasons from 1999 to 2007 have died, including Gandolfini, Jerry Adler, Nancy Marchand, Charley Scalies and Tony Sirico.

Falco shared an emotional tribute after Gandolfiniās death at 51 in 2013. āI am shocked and devastated by Jimās passing. He was a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words. I consider myself very lucky to have spent 10 years as his close colleague,ā she said at the time.

In 2021, Falco told The New Yorker that working with the actor āwas like when you see two kids playing in the sandbox, completely immersed in their imaginary world.ā

The Museum of the Moving Image event celebrated the opening of its Stories and Set Designs for The Sopranos exhibition on Feb. 14. The museum held three special screenings, followed by panels with Chase and other cast members.
Falco spoke highly of the landmark series, saying, āFrom the very beginning of working on this show, it really was like stepping on a magic carpet and all you have to do is hold on.ā
āEverything's been done. The writing, the research, the character study, the costumes and makeup. I didn't have to do any of that. I just completely immersed myself into this character that we all helped create,ā she added.
Falco said she āwas lost in the story and in this character, and whatever she went through."
