The end is nigh for several beloved TV shows.
From freshman comedies to long-running talk shows and news programs, the axe of cancellation is falling across every corner of the industry. *The Late Show With Stephen Colbert*, for example, will end after more than a decade on CBS, while high-profile spinoffs of *Star Trek,* *The Boys,* and *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* will wrap up their runs.
Below, we've rounded up every broadcast and streaming series that's been canceled so far in 2026.
The Abandons (Netflix)

Netflix has opted not to pursue a second season of the Western drama *The Abandons, *EW can confirm. Set in the 1850s, the series focused on two rival matriarchs played by Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.
On Jan. 31, creator Kurt Sutter ā who exited the series weeks before wrapping filming ā addressed the cancellation on Instagram. "Dear Netflix, Next time fear compels you to choose the algorithm over a creator's vision, remember how that choice unraveled a potentially beautiful project," he wrote, as reported by *Deadline*. Access Hollywood and Access Daily (NBC)

After 30 seasons, *Access Hollywood *has been canceled, as NBCUniversal is ending all the first-run syndicated programs it produces.
The long-running daily entertainment news show, hosted by Mario Lopez, Scott Evans, Zuri Hall, and Kit Hoover, will continue airing new episodes throughout the summer.
NBCUniversal also canceled *Access Daily*, which is hosted by Lopez and Hoover.
Basketball Wives (VH1)

In January 2026, *Basketball Wives *creator Shaunie Henderson revealed the series would not return after 12 seasons. She made the announcement on Instagram on Jan. 29, calling the show a "defining part" of her career.
"What began as a vision to tell my story and stories of women like me grew into a cultural movement that created opportunity, sparked conversation and, honestly, amplified voices that deserve to be heard," she said. "*Basketball Wives* will always be a cherished part of my legacy and a foundation of my career as a producer. ⦠I look forward to this next season of leadership, creativity, and expansion and sharing it with you."
Brilliant Minds (NBC)

*Brilliant Minds*, an NBC medical drama loosely inspired by the work of the late neurologist Oliver Sacks, was canceled in May 2026 during its second season. The series starred Zachary Quinto as a doctor with face blindness.
"I got the call today and I didnāt want to hear, but I knew that it would come," wrote actor Teddy Sears, who played Dr. Josh Nichols on the series, on his Substack. "To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesnāt paint the entire picture. Iām sad, sure. But Iām also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside."**

On April 16, *The Copenhagen Test *star and executive producer Simu Liu confirmed on X that the Peacock "spy-fi" series had been canceled.

According to *Deadline*, CBS is also axing *DMV, *a comedy about employees at the East Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles. It will reportedly air its final episode on May 11.

Good Cop/Bad Cop (The CW)

After just one season, *Good Cop/Bad Cop *has been canceled by The CW. The police dramedy starred Leighton Meester and Luke Cook as sibling detectives teaming up to solve crimes.
Cook confirmed the news in a TikTok posted on Feb. 13. "Sad to let you know this but we will not be doing a season 2 of *Good Cop/Bad Cop*," he said. "I loved making that show ⦠I'm sorry that it didn't work out and we won't be doing more of it, but it's a tough business. Hollywood has the ability to make your dreams come true and also break your heart."
Gen V (Amazon Prime Video)

On April 24, * *reported that* The Boys* spinoff *Gen V* was canceled after two seasons.
āWhile we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, weāre committed to continuing theĀ *Gen V*Ā charactersā stories inĀ *The Boys*Ā season 5 and other [Vought Cinematic Universe] projects on the horizon,ā executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said in a joint statement. āYouāll see them again.ā
The spinoff debuted in 2023 and centered on students at a school for budding superheroes. Kripke previously told EW that he had a concept in mind for a third season that he still hopes to find a way to incorporate into future iterations of *The Boys* franchise.**
Going Dutch (Fox)

Multiple outlets have reported that *Going Dutch*, a Fox comedy in which Denis Leary stars as a crude colonel who's reassigned to a military base in the Netherlands, was canceled after two seasons.
According to *Deadline*, it was the "lowest-rated entertainment program" on the network.**
Jersey Shore: Family Vacation (MTV)

The ninth season of *Jersey Shore: Family Vacation* will be its last, MTV confirmed in March. That said, the party animals who first stormed Seaside Heights in 2009 have said they'll be back in some form or another.
"Legends donāt retire ā they reroute," reads the caption to an Instagram video shared by the cast in March. "The network changed. The legacy didnāt. *Jersey Shore* is forever. Just wait until you see whatās next."
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi doubled down on that sentiment in an interview on *Good Morning America* in April. "We always said we'll continue filming until we're in a nursing home. It's not over for us. We don't know where we're going yet, but we had a great relationship with MTV. It's bittersweet, but I feel like we still got more."**
Karamo (NBC)

NBCUniversal has also pulled the plug on *Karamo, *a daytime talk show hosted by *Queer Eye *alum Karamo Brown, after four seasons. Production has already wrapped, and the final episodes will roll out in the coming months.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (CBS)

In July 2025, CBS made the surprising call to end *The Late Show *franchise after more than 30 years. EW confirmed that *The Late Show With Stephen Colbert *will air its final episode on Thursday, May 21, 2026, marking the end of an era for the network's late-night lineup.
"We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire *The Late Show* franchise," CBS said in a statement. "We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television."
Colbert addressed the cancellation during the July 17 episode of *The Late Show. *"It's not just the end of our show, but it's the end of *The Late Show* on CBS. I'm not being replaced. This is all just going away. ⦠I wish somebody else was getting it."
Law & Order: Organized Crime (NBC)

NBC canceled *Law & Order: Organized Crime* in April after five seasons.
Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler led the *SVU* spinoff, which debuted in 2021 and follows the hot-headed detective as he joins the NYPD's Organized Crime Task Force.
Meloni acknowledged the cancellation with a video post on Instagram. āI wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back," he said.
Miss Governor (Netflix)

*Miss Governor*, formerly known as *She the People*, was canceled by Netflix after one season. Co-created by Tyler Perry and Niya Palmer, the sitcom centered on Mississippi's first Black lieutenant governor, played by Terri J. Vaughn.
Vaughn discussed the cancellation in an Instagram video. āI have to admit, I was quite heartbroken when I first got the info, mainly because⦠of course, because I really worked my ass off to make that show come to fruition,ā she said. āMy heart and the intention behind the show was just, and I still feel it was just so beautiful and purposeful [and] impactfulā¦to be able to tell those stories through that character.ā**
Palm Royale (Apple TV)

EW can confirm that Apple TV has canceled *Palm Royale, *which will end with its second season. The Emmy-nominated period dramedy featured Kristen Wiig, Leslie Bibb, Ricky Martin, and Carol Burnett in a story about Palm Beach socialites in the 1960s.
PBS News Weekend (PBS)

In January, *PBS News Weekend* abruptly ended following federal funding cuts to public media backed by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans.
"PBSĀ canceled the show due to the loss of federal funding for public media," anchor John Yang said during the final broadcast. "Weāre grateful that youāve chosen us over the years as the place to get news on Saturdays and Sundays."**
Rehab Addict (HGTV)

*Rehab Addict* was axed in February after a video emerged of host Nicole Curtis using a racial slur.
"HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming ofĀ *Rehab Addict*," a rep for the network told EW at the time. "Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees ā it does not align with the values of HGTV."
They went on to confirm that *Rehab Addict* was being pulled from "all HGTV platforms."
Curtis apologized in a statement to TMZ. "I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone."
The Runarounds (Amazon Prime Video)

In early April, *Deadline* reported that Amazon Prime Video's *The Runarounds *had been canceled after one season. The series, from *Outer Banks* co-creator Jonas Pate, was inspired by the real band of the same name.
āWhile the TV series may have come to a close, as a band weāre here to stayā, the band wrote on Instagram after the news broke. "This is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.ā
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (Paramount+)

EW can confirm that *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy*Ā will end with its upcoming second season. The series folded in characters from *Discovery* and *Voyager *as it followed a new class of Starfleet cadets, the first in over a century.
"We're incredibly proud of the ambition, passion, and creativity that went into bringing *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* to life," reads a joint statement from CBS Studios and Paramount+.
In a separate statement, executive producers and co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau said, "We are in post-production now on what will be the second and final season.Ā Weāre so proud of what weāve accomplished together on this show, and the world will get to see the work of these extraordinary artists when season two airs.Ā We will finish strong."**
Sherri (Fox)

On Feb. 2, Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury confirmed that *Sherri, *Sherri Shepherdās daytime talk show,* *had been canceled after four seasons.
"This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production ā which has found strong creative momentum this season ā or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd," Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a statement. "We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms."
Roughly a week later, Frank Cicha, head of programming for Fox TV Stations, told *Variety* that the "economics" of daytime talk shows have shifted. "The levels of audiences that these shows were garnering just couldnāt justify the cost," he explained.
Still, Shepherd has vowed not to give up on the show. "We're gonna be airing episodes all through the fall. And we're going to continue to fight to keep this show alive in some way, shape or form," she told viewers on the Feb. 9 episode. "If anybody knows me, they know I'm a fighter. I don't know exactly what it's going to look like, but I promise, I am going to continue to spread joy."
The Steve Wilkos Show (NBC)

Also canceled is *Jerry Springer** *spinoff *The Steve Wilkos Show*, another casualty of NBCUniversal's move to end original production for first-run syndication. Since its premiere in September 2007, the talk show has aired 19 seasons and over 2,000 episodes.
As with *Karamo*, production is finished and the remaining episodes will air over the summer.
Stumble (NBC)

In May, EW confirmed that NBC canceled the cheerleading mockumentary *Stumble *after just one season.
Co-creator Liz Astrof shared a touching video on Instagram following the news. "This is what it looks like to work on a set where there is so much support, kindness, lifting each other up (literally and figuratively) and pure love among a cast and crew, writers, and directors," she wrote. "Itās a found family in a show about a found family."**
Talamasca: The Secret Order (AMC)

AMC has canceled *Talamasca: The Secret Order*, the latest entry in its Immortal Universe franchise, after one season, * *can confirm.
"While we are not proceeding with another season of *Talamasca: The Secret Order*, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved," the network said in a statement to EW. "The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise."
Terminator Zero (Netflix)

In February, *Terminator Zero* creator Mattson Tomlin confirmed on social media that the animated series was canceled by Netflix.
"It was cancelled," Tomlin replied when a fan inquired about the status of the show. "The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it."
He added, "I wouldāve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in seasonās 2 and 3, but Iām also very happy with how it feels contained as is."
The Vince Staples Show (Netflix)

Netflix has also canceled *The Vince Staples Show*, according to *The Hollywood Reporter*. Netflix did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
Created by Vince Staples, Ian Edelman, and Maurice Williams, the offbeat comedy was originally billed as a "limited series of satirical tales" and starred the rapper as a fictionalized version of himself.
When it debuted in February 2024, critics praised its humor and unique tone. EW called it "laugh-out-loud funny," noting an edge that made it feel "both unexpected and authentic."
Sadly, it never broke through to a massive audience, but it definitely found its fans. Honestly, we're lucky it got a second season at all.
Watson (CBS)

Morris Chesnut, who starred as the titular doctor/detective, confirmed the news on Instagram on March 30, calling the cancellation "disappointing."
