Gabourey Sidibe is reflecting on another special Mother's Day with her family.
While chatting with PEOPLE at the Disney 2026 Upfront in New York City on Tuesday, May 12, the actress shared how she celebrated the holiday with her husband, Brandon Frankel, and their 2-year-old twins, Cooper and Maya.
Sidibe, 43, says the day was "actually pretty nice," sharing that their family of four enjoyed their Sunday outside at a butterfly pavilion.
"I got to be home for [Mother's Day]. I thought I was going to have to be here. We took the kids to a butterfly pavilion so they could see butterflies," she says. "It was the first time — they love dinosaurs, but they've never seen dinosaurs — and so we took them to the dinosaur room at the museum, and my daughter was like, 'So many dinosaurs!' It was so much fun."

Still, Sidibe admits that Mother's Day can be "so hard" for both moms and dads. "It's so hard when you're also a mom because it's like you put it on for them, but you're like, damn lady."

Ahead of Mother's Day, Sidibe celebrated her 43rd birthday.
On Wednesday, May 6, Frankel celebrated his wife with a heartfelt Instagram tribute, featuring some adorable photos of Sidibe and their twins.
"HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE QUEEN OF OUR UNIVERSE @gabbysidibe ! Not sure how us three got so lucky to have you as our Husband and Mama respectively, but you’re everyone’s absolute favorite person in our home," he began the lengthy caption.
"You’re the most incredible Wife, Mother, friend, and basically everything you do. You’re thoughtful, caring, five steps ahead, hilarious, witty, and so much more. You deserve nothing but the best life has to offer, and the Twins and I wish you the most magical and fulfilling year ahead," he continued. "We love you so so so so much!"
"Also…you never seem to actually age, so I’m certain you ARE a witch. I’m fighting for my life to keep up lol ❤️👑👏🏼✨," he concluded his post.
