The battle at Tumbleton causes mass bloodshed. After Ormund (James Norton) lines up children at the battlefront in an effort to keep Team Black dragons at bay, Daemon eventually decides to make short work of opening the gate by using Caraxes.
Meanwhile, Ulf (Tom Bennett) is revealed to be a double agent working for Team Green. But heās nowhere to be found. When heās discovered passed out on the toilet, he jumps onto Silverwing and starts taking out Team Blackās army with dragon fire.
He then, in an act of revenge, switches teams again by burning Ormund and Roddy the Ruin (Tommy Flanagan), who wouldāve died at the hands of each other anyway as their fight was coming to deadly blows.
As Daemon goes on a murder spree, despite seemingly having a moment of remorse, Corlys (Steve Toussaint) finds him to tell him they need to leave after the town was lost to dragon fire. At the same time, Daeronās (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) fate is uncertain.
Within the castle of Harrenhal, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) learns Alys (Gayle Rankin) is actually a century-old witch. Shortly after, Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and his dragon Sunfryre confront Aemond. Aemond, in turn, asks for forgiveness after trying to kill Aegon to take the throne for himself.
Elsewhere, Rhaenyra makes moves to secure her place as queen of the realm. After sending away her trusted confidant Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), Rhaenyra once again asks the High Septon to officially anoint her as queen. When he refuses for a second time, she has him killed.
The finale concludes with Rhaenyra discovering Helaena (Phia Saban) has chosen to jump out of the window to her death rather than let herself, and her future child, remain hostage.

At the Red Keep, Helaena refuses to eat. Helaena tells Rhaenyra she has become ugly and that she only cares about power and war. Failing to appeal to her half-sister, Rhaenyra orders her guards to force-feed Helaena.
After Rhaenyra learns Aegonās dragon Sunfyre is alive, she fully taps into her ruthlessness.Ā She takes her son Joffrey (Oscar Eskinazi) with her to visit the High Septon, because she has decided he will officially anoint her as queen for everyone in the realm to see.
But the High Septon remains steadfast in his position that his seven-faced god doesnāt want her to rule, especially now that Aegon and Sunfyre have been āresurrected.ā
Rhaenyra then orders Alyn (Abubakar Salim) to execute the High Septon. While the High Septon takes his last breath, Rhaenyra gives a speech to the realm, telling them she was already officially chosen and anointed as queen before her fatherās death.
āI am the prince that was promised,ā she says in High Valyrian.
Soon after, Rhaenyra learns Helaena jumped to her death. When Rhaenyra arrives to Helaenaās room and sees what has happened, Rhaenyra picks up Helaenaās tapestry and realizes that her sister stitched an image of her own death ā and one depicting Rhaenyraās bloody reign.

At Harrenhal, Aemond hears a dragon. Likely believing Vhagar has returned to him, Aemond leaves bed to take a look around the castle.
Instead, he finds his brother Aegon with his dragon Sunfyre. Aemond believed he killed them both, so he bends the knee to his brother and asks for forgiveness.
Aegon sought out Aemond to fight him, but Aemond refuses. Since Aegon doesnāt get the fight he was hoping for, he orders Aemond to search for Vhagar and help him retake his rightful place as king.

After poisoning Aemond, Alicent fled Harrenhal. She appears briefly at the end of the season 3 finale, around the same time that Rhaenyra learns Helaena is dead.
Blue butterflies take flight as Alicent is in the woods, a likely nod to the beauty Helaena saw in nature.
Helaena chose to secure her fate after Mysaria told her Rhaenyra would never let her go.
