Most people know Jeff Bezos as a tech titan and owner of Amazon. But the businessman is also an adventurer — exemplified by his aerospace company, Blue Origin and his 2021 suborbital space flight. But Bezos’ thirst for adventure began even before he celebrated weightlessness at more than 350,000 feet aboard his ship, the New Glenn.

From the deep sea to deep space, along with more earthly adventures like an exclusive European wedding in 2025, Jeff Bezos has spent more money than most people can even imagine. What were some of his most extravagant purchases?

Deep Sea Diving for Rocket Parts

In 2013, Jeff Bezos funded and led a team in the Atlantic Ocean to recover pieces from Saturn V rockets that powered NASA’s Apollo missions. The mission lasted three weeks, and the recovery, including parts from an Apollo 12 F-1 engine, is still on display at The Museum of Flight in Seattle.

The mission involved 60 people, including Bezos and his mother, the only woman on the expedition, according to Space.com. Although there’s no public record of the cost, salvage operations can range from millions to billions, according to MarineInsight.com. For instance, in 2019, it cost $85 million to recover a Norwegian frigate during a four-day mission.

Super Yacht Koru

More recently, Bezos spent millions to take to the high seas on the world’s biggest superyacht, the Koru. Recognized by Fortune as the billionaire’s most expensive personal investment, the Koru measures 417 feet long and reportedly cost Bezos $500 million. The yacht includes a second vessel, the Abeona, a $75 million yacht with a helipad.

Private Jet

A superyacht can take Bezos and his friends on luxurious, leisurely trips around the world. But when the billionaire needs to get somewhere fast, he has a Gulfstream G700 jet. With a top speed of Mach 0.935 — or roughly 693 miles per hour — the subsonic plane cost about $80 million, according to Fox Business. Bezos also owns three additional aircraft, according to Business Insider.

Bezos-Sanchez Wedding in Italy

Some might consider marriage the greatest adventure of all. But it wasn’t Bezos’ most expensive. Bezos married Lauren Sanchez in Venice, Italy, in the summer of 2025, reportedly spending between $47 million and $56 million on the star-studded wedding. Special guests included the Kardashians, Jenners, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Bill Gates, according to Yahoo.com.

Blue Origin

A superyacht, a regular yacht and a fleet of jets — not to mention billions of dollars’ worth of property across the U.S. — might be enough for most people. But Bezos’ most extravagant investment is arguably the $5.5 billion he spent to fund a four-minute suborbital maiden voyage aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft.

Tickets for space tourists hoping to join a Blue Origin flight sell for millions of dollars, with one of the first seats auctioned for $28 million. Bezos, however, invested at least $5.5 billion of his own money to make the journey possible.
