Jessie Buckley is poised to make Oscars history tonight. The Hamnet star—who has picked up precursor awards at the Actor Awards, the Golden Globes, and the BAFTAs—could be the first Irish actress to win the Best Actress trophy.

For the evening, she chose a Chanel gown, and accessorized with Chanel jewelry, including a N°5 Drop White Gold necklace a “Jeanne” ring and Bouton de Camélia earrings.

Styled by Danielle Goldberg, Buckley has worn a variety of designers this awards season, not sticking to one particular fashion house (it was Balenciaga at the Actor Awards, Chanel at the BAFTAs, and Dior at the Globes). “Jessie is so talented and beautiful inside and out,” said designer Simone Rocha, who has dressed her in the past. “She is really a magnet, you are just drawn to her and the way she dresses feels authentic to herself.”

Buckley has attended the Oscars twice before, in 2023 and 2022. Tonight’s dress is a more elevated, glamorous departure from her past Academy Awards fashion.

“It’s an absolute honour to be recognized by the Academy. I am so proud to be standing beside all these extraordinary artists and fellow nominees whose work has inspired me and moved me!” Buckley said ahead of the evening. “Chloé Zhao, you cracked my heart wide open when you asked me to step into Maggie O’Farrell’s world and create our Agnes beside you. Paul, there is no Agnes without you. I’m so grateful to have been part of this story with the incredible village of artists I shared it with.”

She concluded, “To make anything at all is an absolute triumph, and this recognition belongs to every artist who bravely pours themselves into the work and journeys towards the undiscovered landscapes of their souls. I’m delighted, deeply grateful and humbled to be part of this community. Thank you.”
