There is no shortage of steamy moments in Off Campus, but there's one scene in particular that shines through for star Belmont Cameli.
Cameli, 28, plays hockey star Garrett Graham in the Prime Video series, which is an adaptation of Elle Kennedy's bestselling book The Deal. The series explores the opposites-attract romance between Garrett and Hannah (Ella Bright), who make a deal to help each other: Garrett needs to pass the philosophy class that Hannah is acing, and Hannah wants to get the attention of her longtime crush, Justin (Josh Heuston).
The boundaries start to blur, though, when what starts as an agreement among friends starts to trickle into real romance territory, which begins with a moment in episode 4.
As Cameli tells PEOPLE, there are "a lot of good book moments" that come to life onscreen in season 1, but an "especially poignant one" comes after Hannah confides in Garrett about her challenges with romantic intimacy — and the intimate moment they then share in his bedroom.
"I'm very proud of that one," Cameli says of the bedroom scene. "I think fans are going to love it, because they know there's something steamy coming, but there's so many levels to what happens in that bedroom."
"We took a lot of care to get that one right, and I'm very proud of that one," Cameli says.

There are "a lot of vulnerable moments" for Cameli and Bright's characters over the course of the season, but the Chicago-born actor says, "I don't really think too much about the fact that it's going to get shared. I think more about the work."

"We were really in it, and we really invested ourselves in it," he says. "And now that it's coming out — I don't even know what that's going to be like. I'll cross that bridge when I get there."
Bright, 19, tells PEOPLE that she had a conversation with showrunner Louisa Levy during the audition process "and we just spoke about everything that the show required," which helped her understand what would be asked of her when it came to steamy scenes.
"What always stood out to me was just how character-driven and meaningful these sex scenes [are]," Bright says. "[They] really do push the story forward in such a way that [it] couldn't really actually be told without it. I really do feel like they're so earned through the whole story."
Bright says she and Cameli "had such great conversations with each other, with the team, with our intimacy coordinators, and everything's choreographed, and it was a very safe and comfortable environment to be in."

There's another scene straight from the book that Cameli says stands out to him among the episodes. "Thanksgiving is a tough moment for Garrett and for Hannah, by consequence, as well," he says. "I think we did Thanksgiving justice across the board."
The episode is a favorite for him "not just for our storylines," he says. "That is an episode where the show really comes into its identity, I think. It's a really fun one, and I think that one translates really well."
