Scott Pelley has made his first major move since being ousted from 60 Minutes earlier this month, signing with new representation.
According to Deadline, the veteran journalist has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the company that represents several of his former 60 Minutes co-workers, many of whom were also forced out of the show over the past year.
CAA represents former 60 Minutes executive producer Tanya Simon and former correspondent Cecilia Vega, both of whom were fired by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss last month. The company also represents Bill Owens, who resigned as the show’s exec producer in April 2025 after saying that he no longer could be guaranteed editorial independence.
Other clients include Anderson Cooper, who left 60 Minutes earlier this year to spend more time with his family, and Lesley Stahl, one of the show’s longtime correspondents who is sticking with the show amid the turmoil.

Earlier this month, Pelley confronted the show’s new producer, Nick Bilton, about Weiss’ changes during a heated staff meeting. Pelley reportedly said that Weiss was “murdering” 60 Minutes and told Bilton he had “slender qualifications” for the job. The next day, Bilton sent a termination letter to Pelley, noting that he’d been fired “for cause, effective immediately.”

Speaking to The New York Times after his firing, Pelley said the new leadership at CBS News doesn’t “know what they’re doing,” adding, “We have people who’ve been installed in these jobs who through no fault of their own have no experience in television.”
He went on to claim that “there’s a subtle political bias that I’ve never seen at 60 Minutes before, or at CBS News before.”
Pelley said he has hope that the show and CBS News can “return to sanity,” stating, “We can save this. It’s possible to land this plane. But right now, CBS News is on fire.”
