Has late-night become just too political for you? Wish you had something silly and comforting to watch instead? Stephen Colbert and a bunch of children have you covered.

On Thursday's show, the *Late Show* host unveiled a star-studded trailer for a new fictional late-night program developed by kids called *Evening Island*.

"Before the break, a focus group of children told me what they'd like to see in a late-night show," Colbert said. "We followed their advice and are now proud to present an exclusive trailer for the hit late-night future series* Evening Island*."

The footage then cut to *Evening Island*'s tropical set, complete with merpeople, palm trees, and a menagerie of sea creatures. The clip also introduced the show's host Rebecca, played by Jenny Slate, as well as its house band, the Avett Brothers.

"Big political news! The one question on everyone’s mind: Who's the queen of the pencil case?" Rebecca asks the audience. "The ruler!"

As a laugh track plays, one creature that doesn't find the punchline so funny β€” a realistic-looking dolphin β€” can be seen.

"Why is late-night so partisan?" it asks.

*Evening Island *will feature interviews with a wide range of celebrity guests, from the God of Thunder himself, Thor (Liam Neeson), to *The Pitt** *stars Taylor Dearden and Isa Briones.

"What's it like to pretend you're from the imaginary place called Pittsburgh?" Rebecca asks Dearden and Briones.

"Well, Pittsburgh is a real place," Briones says. "It's in Pennsylvania,"Β Dearden adds.

Other guests, like John Oliver, have a much more difficult time visiting the island.

"I'm not gonna make it to the desk, Rebecca," the *Last Week Tonight* host shouts as he attempts to swim to *Evening Island*'s shores. "I was gonna do a rant about the for-profit prison system!"

It's then that a shark appears and swallows a screaming Oliver whole.

"I miss Arsenio," the dolphin quips.

*Evening Island *is set to air at "6, 7" o'clock, according to Briones and Dearden. "Tune in!" Neeson demands.

After showing the clip, Colbert thanked all of the stars who made an appearance in the sketch as well as "all the children who have allowed us to steal their great ideas over the last decade."
