Following the success of Teddy Swims' album I've Tried Everything but Therapy, the singer-songwriter is opening up about the source of his recent musical inspirations.

Speaking with a small group of journalists for a Q&A held at T-Mobile's Club Magenta at Stagecoach, the "Lose Control" singer, real name Jaten Dimsdale, said it was simple: "Inspiration is coming from life."

"I'm going through a bit of a situation with my baby mother," Swims, 33, admitted of his relationship with Raiche Wright. "A little heartbreak going on."

Still, "it's gonna be rock and roll man," he said.

Swims and Wright welcomed their first baby, a son, in June 2025. Despite the strain in their relationship, Swims said he's still "in a good place" — largely due to his baby boy.

"I've got a 10 month old and he's the sweetest kid in the world," he said. "Trying to make everything not about being a dad is the hard part because nobody wants to hear nothing but dad tunes."

In 2023, Swims released his hit single "Lose Control" and it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2025 and 2026. Moving forward, Swims said he simply wants to be "the best I can be."

"And to my son, I just want him to be proud of me. I want him to think I'm cool. As long as he thinks I'm cool then I'm f---ing cool," he said.

The "Some Things I'll Never Know" singer also opened up about how music "saved my life."

"I'm very fortunate that I get to get up on stage and share things that I think are very traumatic things in my life," he said, adding that he's able to "take ownership of those things and put them into music."

He continued, "It's saved me in a lot of ways... We get to scream these tunes at the top of our lungs and be heartbroken but on the other side of it look back and say, 'I got through that.' I'm grateful for it in so many ways for the heartbreak and the connection it's brought me."

At Stagecoach, Swims played the T-Mobile Mane Stage and brought out David Lee Roth for a performance of Van Halen's "Jump." He also played both weekends of Coachella earlier this month.

To navigate the desert heat, Swims said he has several changes of clothes because he keeps "sweating through them."

"Lots of water. Lots of SPF. Lots of face moisturizer. Loads of tequila post set. White Claws too. Keep it light baby... Gotta keep my girlish figure," he joked.

Also at the festival, T-Mobile's Club Magenta transformed into a tattoo-inspired world pulled from Swims' tattoos, with exclusive activations for fans.
