Danielle Collins was left screaming during a bizarre moment on live television after a ladybug landed in her eye during her latest appearance on the Tennis Channel.

Collins suddenly hunched over the desk during the National Bank Open broadcast in Montreal on Saturday before breaking into hysterical laughter.

"I don't know where it went," Collins said as she searched for the unexpected intruder. She then pulled her hair back, revealing the ladybug perched just above her eyebrow. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Collins screamed as soon as she spotted it. "It's a ladybug, so it's good luck," Steve Weissman said off-camera. "Look, it's a ladybug. That means TC Live is gonna be so great."

The camera then panned to the ladybug perched on Steve Johnson's pinky finger as Collins continued to cackle at the bizarre encounter. "I thought it was, like, a spider or something," Collins said. "I couldn't see it because it was on my eye, but thank God it was a friendly little thing. Alright, make a wish!"

Collins has become a familiar face on the Tennis Channel in 2026 after stepping away from competitive tennis. The 32-year-old reached a career-high No. 7 in the world in 2022, the same year she reached the Australian Open final.

In December 2025, Collins announced that she would take a break from the sport after the season to undergo "a few egg freezing procedures."

Posting on Instagram, Collins wrote, "Wanted to come on here and give everyone a little update since everyone has been asking! I've been taking the last few months off to recover from the back injury I had at the end of the season. I've also been undergoing a few egg freezing procedures.

"It's been one of the coolest things I've honestly ever done! But at the same time these hormones I have had to be on are a real b----. I am so fortunate for the friends that have been helping take care of me during this time. I have one more procedure to go. With all of this, I will not be competing during the first part of the year. But you will be seeing me in a different capacity with @tennischannel."

Collins had initially planned to retire at the end of 2024 to start a family, but she later reversed that decision after facing fertility challenges linked to endometriosis, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.

The American turned professional in 2016 and has won four WTA singles titles, coming closest to a Grand Slam triumph when she reached the 2022 Australian Open final before losing to Ashleigh Barty.

It remains unclear when Collins will return to competitive tennis. She was initially expected to miss the first half of the 2026 season, but it is now August with the US Open scheduled to begin later this month.
